Matt McIlmoyle – One of the most desirable drummers to play with in southern Ontario, Matt brings his skills to MIA by offering up his thundering bass drum and the “crack” of his snare drum. He’s a pro player that has been playing for most of his life. When you see Matt play during a live show you will be immediately impressed with his skill and his feel for music. He has the kind of chops that most drummers can only wish to have, and he presents his skill on the kit in a high energy fashion that often garners him much acclaim from audience members. Matt has toured the country in various cover bands and original bands as well. Matt was the drummer for “The Holwers” which was a promotional band for The Wolf Radio Station in Peterborough Ontario. Matt toured with the bands “Fear” and “Scuttlebutt” and “One Good Hand Grenade” as well as spending some time running sound for various other bands in the area. When Matt’s not busy playing with MIA he can be found tinkering on one of several of his old cars in his garage, or playing his drums, just for the sake of doing it. Matt loves to write his own original music and can often be heard strumming an acoustic guitar and turning his ideas into a reality. Very few drummers can do what Matt can do on the drums. Just watching him is an experience all its’ own.
Ian Kurz – Ian brings his vocal chops and guitar playing abilities to MIA. He‘s been a guitar player for most of his life and has been singing and fronting bands in various capacities for years and years. Ian’s versatility allows him to be a singer, a singer/guitarist, guitarist, or whatever is needed. Vocally Ian has fronted such bands as “One Good Hand Grenade”, “The Bomb”, “5150”, and “The Big Bang”. On guitar Ian can be found doing the part of rocker Rudy Schenker in the Ontario based Scorpions tribute, Blackout, and also playing the part of Canadian rocker Chad Kroeger in the Ontario based Nickelback tribute band , Nickelbag. In the past he’s played for various radio station promo bands in southern Ontario. His list of band mates is to be envied including playing with Mike Turner (Our Lady Peace), Mladen Alexender (Triumph, Von Groove, Tom Cochrane). Ian was invited to audition for the hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, co writing two unreleased songs with them while they search for a replacement for Scott Weiland. Music has always been the biggest priority in Ian’s life. When he’s not playing live somewhere Ian can be found working on his music related websites www.discoveryoucansing.com and www.backing-tracks-for-bands.com where he creates many of the backing tracks that MIA use for their live performances. Ian has written and performed music on radio commercials and prefers to make music whenever he has the opportunity. When not making music, he loves to experience life and can be found doing outdoor activities such as camping, white-water kayaking, scuba diving, rock climbing etc.
Adam Sweeney – Adam is the man behind the driving bass sounds of MIA . Adam and Ian met several years ago when they co-founded “The Big Bang” where they realized that they have good musical chemistry and that chemistry is very evident when you watch Adam perform with MIA. His bass skills are at the top of the class as well as being a very capable back-up singer and MIDI programmer. Adam’s fun and easy going personality shines through on stage in a way that gives his performances a really “fun” kind of vibe that many other bands just don’t have. He’s quick to have a joke anytime time he’s near a microphone and not actually singing into it. Adam is a pro player that has some experience in the Ontario tribute band scene, including a short stint in the Guns and Roses tribute band, G’n’F’n’R, and as a a stand-in bass player for the Ontario based Nickelback tribute, Nickelbag, as well as with bigger name players such as James McKenty (The Spades). If you listen the radio long enough you’re bound to hear Adams’ bass skills as he writes commercials for business people that advertise on the radio. When he’s not playing with MIA, Adam can be found in his home studio writing and recording either some new commercial, or some other contribution to his growing list of original songs. Adam loves to play with MIA and interact with the audience. He loves to have fun with them while they come up and sing with the band and gets a particular satisfaction from helping to make an audience members’ night more fun and memorable by jamming with them in a live band setting.
